Coming soon to Android

Your thumb stops.
Your life starts.

Open the app that eats your evenings and Thumbpause waits with you for ten seconds. Then you choose: a few more minutes, or close it.

One email when Android opens, one when iPhone is ready. Nothing else. Privacy

Ten seconds. That is the whole trick.
The pause screen: You opened YouTube. One slow breath first.
The question: What did you come here for? Continue for 2, 5 or 10 minutes, or close the app.

How the pause works

  1. You open the app.

One you picked: Instagram, YouTube, whatever takes your evenings. A slow breath comes first, four seconds in, four seconds out. No logo, no counter racing.

  2. It asks what you came for.

Your own reasons sit under the question, written by you, in your own words. Often that is enough.

  3. You decide.

Continue for 2, 5 or 10 minutes, or close the app. Either way it was your choice, and the day under your limit adds to your streak.

Choose how firm.

Some weeks a nudge is enough. Some weeks it is not. You set it, and you can change it.

Gentle
Just the pause. Breathe, answer the question, continue or close.
Firm
A daily limit across the apps you picked. Days under it keep your streak.
Strict
Hard mode. In the hours you set, the apps do not open at all. Loosening the rules waits 24 hours, so a bad evening cannot undo them.
Hard mode: weeknights 9 pm to 7 am, study 4 pm to 7 pm, and a daily limit of 1 hour.
The coach asks what is pulling at you and answers with a slow breath and your own reasons.

A coach for the urge moment.

Reaching for the phone and not sure why? Tap the button and say what is pulling at you. The coach is an AI, it answers in a few short lines, and it keeps your own reasons in view. It is there for the next three minutes, not for life advice.

It is a self-help tool, not therapy. If things feel heavy, it points you to a real person.

Together.

Friendly contests for people who like a little company. Who took back the most time this week, who kept the longest streak. You join with a made-up nickname, and only if you want to.

Together arrives after launch. The waitlist hears about it first.

Android first. iPhone later.

Android is where we start. Once it is out and steady, we build the iPhone version. Join the waitlist and you get both emails.

Questions

When does it come out?

Android first, in a closed test before the public release. Join the waitlist and we write once, the day it opens.

What about iPhone?

iPhone comes after Android is out and steady. The waitlist covers it: one more email, when it is ready.

Does it block my apps?

Only if you ask it to. By default it pauses, asks what you came for, and lets you continue for 2, 5 or 10 minutes, or close the app. Hard mode blocks fully during the hours you set.

What happens to my data?

Your usage stays on your phone unless you sign in. If you sign in, your rules and daily totals sync so a new phone picks up where you left off. We do not sell data. The privacy policy has the detail.

What will it cost?

Free to start. The store shows the price before you pay, and you cancel in the store.

Is it a medical service?

No. Thumbpause is a self-help tool. It does not diagnose or treat anything. If your phone use is hurting your health or your life, please talk to a doctor or a counsellor.
